One day, Sonja goes looking for her family and kills Gorr's bodyguards in an attempt to free herself and escape.This is the basic outline of the myth. What happens to her is quite a bit different. She does not escape, but instead is rescued and brought back to Gorr's camp. The Red Sonja never freed herself from slavery but fought against Gorr and the other pirates. Instead of saving himself, Gorr's guards murdered Sonja and hid her body.After centuries, a few of Gorr's men became tired of serving under him and decided to try their luck on a ship called the Saguaro, in the middle of the ocean. Instead of finding his wife and son, they found only Sonja. This caused them to be the first of the pirates that became known as the Blood Pirates. By attacking other ships, they helped create many myths that were told. These stories are of Sonja's successful quest to free herself from slavery and then the fight against Gorr's men to get to her.The legends that are told by these myths are the part that we love to study the most. We want to know what they are like , why they happen, and who is behind them. The stories are written down so that they are passed down and passed on to generations of people who will continue to learn about these myths.
